2008 Teacher of the Year Nomination Form

Three teachers will be selected for this honor.

  The Pattonville School District is seeking nominations for the district's Teacher of the Year. Pattonville will select a Teacher of the Year from each grade level - high school, middle school and elementary school. One of these three will be selected to enter the Missouri Teacher of the Year program sponsored by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, in conjunction with the National Teacher of the Year program. The winners will be honored during District Appreciation Night, May 5.

  Nominees should be skilled, dedicated teachers who plan to continue teaching as a career. They should have the respect and admiration of students, parents and colleagues. They should play active roles in their community, offering service and leadership in civic, religious or humanitarian activities, as well as in school. They should be poised and articulate and have the energy to withstand a busy schedule, plus the ability to meet people easily.

  Please use the form below to nominate your candidate. Give as much information as possible. Note: Persons in administrative or supervisory positions, including counselors and librarians, are ineligible according to state and national guidelines. Also persons who will retire or resign at the end of the year and previous district winners and those with a Performance Improvement Plan are not eligible. Previous elementary, middle school and high school winners are eligible. Nominations should be submitted by February 1, 2008.

Eligible:
·  Any classroom teacher, pre-kindergarten through grade 12, who intends to be with the district in that capacity for the following   school year
·  The following staff only if they are certified teachers:  school psychologists, early childhood
occupational therapists, physical therapists, diagnosticians and speech/language pathologists

Not Eligible
·  Counselors (not eligible based on state guidelines)
·  Librarians (not eligible based on state guidelines)
·  Persons in a supervisory capacity (not eligible based on state guidelines)
·  Previous winners of the district title are not eligible
·  Staff members on a Performance Improvement Plan
·  SSD teachers are eligible for SSD program (call 314-989-8288 for more information)
·  Persons planning on retiring or resigning at the end of the school year in which they are nominated

Recognition of Ineligible Nominees:
Persons who are ineligible to be considered for this award will still receive recognition via the following:  Their names will be included on publicity materials created and distributed announcing nominees; and they will be invited to be recognized by the Board of Education during a regular board meeting.  The human resources department will contact any staff members on Performance Improvement Plans who have been nominated explaining that they are not eligible to proceed in the process.
